OUR STUDIO

Practice, guidance and room to experiment

BUILT AROUND MAKING

Umberlight began in 2011 with a borrowed room, twelve easels and the conviction that creative confidence grows through regular practice. The institute now works across four disciplines — fine art, graphic design, graffiti and illustration — while keeping the same close, practical format.

Our tutors maintain active creative careers and bring current methods into every session. Each term moves toward something resolved: an exhibition piece, a design portfolio, a documented mural or a printed story that can be shared beyond the classroom.

THE UMBERLIGHT METHOD

  • Room for individual guidance. With no more than fourteen people, feedback stays specific to your work and your next decision.
  • A clear finish line. Every programme leads to a completed outcome rather than a folder of disconnected exercises.
  • Tools ready when you arrive. Core materials, specialist equipment and lab time are covered by the course fee.
  • Work made visible. Reviews, exhibitions and open-studio moments help students speak about what they have created.
